I'm extremely excited about the PC version of Modern Warfare 3 this year, because we’ve been taking your feedback since Modern Warfare 2,and the franchise as a whole, on what you wanted to see in the PC version of Modern Warfare 3 and the team at Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games has put aton of emphasis on delivering a PC experience that brings in all the great things we added in Modern Warfare 2:
Lobby System
Matchmaking with a Party
Matchmaking for Public Games
Steam Integration (Friends List, Server Browser,Achievements, Join on Friends)
While combining it with your favorite features from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare:
Dedicated Servers (Join your favorite or set up your own, without any 3rd party hosting requirements)
In-game Server Browser that allows you to filter by ping, map, gametype, hardcore, voice, password, and more.
In addition, we're supporting PC specific features that give you even more control over your experience like RCON, Custom Game Saving, NoGFX / Audio Card Requirement on DS.exe, Voice Chat, and SSAO.
Beyond that, we know our PC audience has sent in a ton of questions to us via @fourzerotwo, Sledgehammer Games’s QotW, and to the forums and wanted to knock out someof the most asked questions in a quick and easy FAQ so that you can make a fulland informed decision when pre-ordering Modern Warfare 3.
Does the PC version of Modern Warfare 3 support the same Private Match options?
Yes! PC players can fully customize their private / dedicated server games through full control over Class Restrictions, Custom Gamemode creation, access to unique private match modes like One in the Chamber,Gun Game, and Infected, as well as save their custom games for future use.
Will Modern Warfare 3 have Dedicated Servers?
Yes! Modern Warfare 3 supported matchmaking as well as Dedicated Servers, allowing players to find and filter via an in-game server browser or set-up their own Dedicated Server for complete control, without being restricted by any 3rd party hosting requirements. If looking for a Dedicated Server to join, if you choose not to set up your own, you can filter and favorite by Ping, Map, Gametype, Hardcore Variants, Voice, Password, and many other options.
Will MW3 on PC have unique graphic options available?
Yes! You have a lot of graphic options, including enablingand disabling of new rendering features such as SSAO, you'll also be able to modify DOF, Shadows, Anti-Aliasing, Texture Resolution and more.
Will Remote Console (RCON) be available to server admins?
Yes! You'll be able to admin your server using RCON. We'll support all things you'd expect, such as Kicking & Banning players, map rotation, private chat to players, reloading the map, and more.
Does Modern Warfare 3 on PC support an in-game Server Browser? Can you also use matchmaking?

How is Modern Warfare 3 on PC handling anti-cheat?
Security is a major focus for Modern Warfare 3, especially coming out of Modern Warfare 2. We will be utilizing multiple methods of Anti-cheat and Security methods, including Steam's VAC system, CEG, and our own propriety methods implemented to provide multiple layers of defense in keeping online multiplayer fun, fair, and secure for all players without limiting the control they expect on PC.
Will Modern Warfare 3 on PC support STEAM?

Will Spec Ops have matchmaking on PC?
Yes! As well as Spec Ops specific leaderboards and a full progressive ranking system.
What is the Maxplayer count for Modern Warfare 3 on PC?
Currently it is 18 players max (in Ground War) but it may increase post launch.
Will Modern Warfare 3 on PC have LAN support?
Yes!
What is the overall design philosophy regarding PC? How is IW/SH providing for the unique needs of PC players?
We value the PC player and have gone to great lengths inproviding a more rich experience for our players. We keep our ear near the ground and try todeliver items most requested. The big feature for MW3 we are supporting is Dedicated Servers, this includes a serverbrowser, voting, RCON, and more. Also we’ve implemented some PC only rendering features including SSAO. Lastly we are embracing the STEAM platform by integrating fully with Steam including friends list, STEAM achievements.
How is the game being optimized for PC hardware?
We do wide testing across all tiers of PC, in our office wehave an old minspec machine that receives just as much care as our top tier PC. We’ve also engaged the hardware manufactures for wider compatibility testing for us to ensure an optimized bug free launch.
Can we set our max FPS?
No. Setting Max FPS is not a user controllable option.
Will 'lean' be in the game?
No. We chose to keep lean out of the game to keep the gameplay experience universal across all platforms. This was a gameplay design decision.
Will there be Modtools for Modern Warfare 3 on PC?
Mod Tools will not be shipped at launch. As always we are continually evaluating features to support post launch and this is one requiring further discussion.

Elite Info (inkl. Infos zur PC-Elite):
- Spoiler:
After launching in July, the Call of Duty Elite beta concluded this week — the service’s full public launch is slated for November 8 — so now’s a good time to check up with Beachhead Studio head Chacko Sonny and product director Noah Heller. I’ve had several people ask questions about Elite during the beta and I had a few questions myself, spanning everything from beta learnings to MW3 integration to PC customization. Since we couldn’t pull off a podcast appearance this time, we went the email Q&A route — and here’s the answers.
Dan Amrich: Now that the beta has concluded, what data or user feedback did you see come out of that? Any surprises?
Chacko Sonny: The beta was exciting for the whole team. We had a chance to unveil features that had previously only been talked about and roll them out live, into the hands of our players.
Noah Heller: It was great to be able to give something back to the community. Guys that had been playing Black Ops for 8 months woke up one morning with access to Elite, for free. That was gratifying.
Chacko: Competition was one of the areas where we learned a lot. When real prizes (or fame) are on the line, our players get pretty creative. Our live Operations team had its hands full administrating competitions and we gave away a lot of great stuff. Most important of all, the beta helped prime us for this November and Modern Warfare 3. We learned a lot about how important it is to focus on scale. Nothing beats having real world fans get “hands-on” with the service.
Dan: The beta closed on October 18, but I suspect people who have gotten used to it will miss it between now and launch. Will there be any additional access as we head towards launch on 11/8?
Chacko: I’m pleased to announce that we’re going to re-open Elite for everyone (not just registered beta participants) any day now. However, we’re going to limit access to your Black Ops player card (the career section) until our 11/8 launch, but we wanted to ensure that our fans could still interact with Elite even when we’re working feverishly to ensure a successful launch for MW3.
Dan: What kind of prizing did you guys offer for the competitions that took place during the Black Ops beta? Also, with real-world prizing, were there any big surprises on the competitive side?
Chacko: As I mentioned, our fans have been very inventive when it comes to cheating. One guy even bragged about hopping on a plane to fly to another state and help his friends. All this hard work by these players has helped us find new ways to detect and stop boosting, cheating and other tactics.
We also ran a lot of successful competitions during the beta. We gave away a Black Ops edition Jeep Wrangler, as well as TVs, poker chip sets, t-shirts, iPads and more. One thing that was pretty cool was the fact that the winners of the million dollar Call of Duty XP tournament qualified through an Elite competition.
Noah: Since we started the beta, one of the things we say internally is that everyone can go pro. What we mean by this is we want to give everyone a chance to win something cool doing what they love. A big task for us coming out of the beta is to make competition even broader. With MW3, you are going to see us start to experiment with different challenges, such as “flag defenders that stay alive” or “snipers that are good with the knife” – these are challenges that give you a chance to try a new style of play.
Dan: A lot of gamers have asked for more detail on exactly how Elite will integrate with MW3. Can you offer any more information on that?
Noah: I know a lot of our fans are excited about Clans, and BHS, IW and SHG were able to squeeze one last feature into MW3 for you guys. When you are in your title and emblem screen in MW3, you will have the option to choose your Elite Clan Title. This lets you “wear” a title that the Clan Leader has selected, along with a specific message that he types out right inside MW3. Basically, your whole Clan can wear this “uniform” when you enter a match.
Dan: I heard the Hardened Edition of MW3 is pretty much sold out, and many people told me they preordered HE to make sure they got in on Elite as soon as they could. I would expect that was gratifying to the team?
Chacko: Absolutely. Make sure you register and sign up now so you are all ready to go at launch.
Dan: What kind of back-end support are you guys planning for launch? Is there another group or team focused on CS and operations?
Noah: We have a live Operations team that is working 24/7 to help manage the Elite community. These guys do everything from helping reduce spam to verifying the winners of our competitions. It’s a massive team.
Dan: Back in August, at GamesCom, you mentioned that you were working on customizing the PC platform for Elite. Back then I wondered if dedicated servers might be causing some of the concern — since there’s no central server hub to maintain data security, I thought that might make it hard to run competitions if you can’t guarantee how the servers are run. Is that part of it?
Chacko: Correct. We’re as committed as ever to the PC, but the need to ensure a safe PC environment is greater than ever. It’s really extensive. We need more time to get there, so Elite on PC will not launch on Day 1. We’re working our butts off to make it happen, but we won’t release it until we know that PC gamers can enjoy Elite as it’s meant to be.
The issue here is that the PC is an insecure platform. Without a central, trusted resource for stats, a lot of our competition features become unfair. We can’t give away prizes when people can easily cheat their stats. Leaderboards are less fun when a lot of the users are there unfairly.
Dan: A year’s premium membership to Elite is one of the most prominent elements of MW3′s Hardened Edition, but there is no PC version of HE available for preorder. Does that mean there is no paid PC membership to Elite?
Noah: As Chacko mentioned, not being able to trust stats is a big problem for our design. Because of this, we had to re-imagine Elite for PC. Elite for PC will be about access to your own stats, or those of your friends. Basically establishing a circle of trust. And because it will have some reduced functionality, it will be free for everyone.
Dan: The ability to subscribe to discounted DLC through an Elite membership is a very popular aspect of the service. If there’s no paid PC element to Elite, will PC gamers still have the option to do that, or are they on the existing a la carte system for MW3?
Noah: PC guys will be able to purchase their DLC content a la carte, just like it has worked before.
Dan: What elements do you feel confident will appear in the PC implementation of Elite? Do you have a timetable for when it will debut?
Chacko: We’re working on it, but it is not going to come out until we’ve done a lot more work. At this point I need to say, “It will be ready when it is ready.” I’m a PC gamer myself and I don’t want to ship something to this community that doesn’t have the polish that they deserve.
Chacko mentioned signing up now to be ready for launch — he’s talking about your general callofduty.com user account, which you can currently use to post on the official Call of Duty forums. That same login will be used to access your Elite account when the service launches, so if you have not claimed your callofduty.com login, do that now and save time.

Guy Beahm in "MW3 Maximized" zu den Strike Packages: zieht euch das zitat rein )
http://sledgehammergames.com/blog/view/86
(...)When it comes to punishing the other team with tactical point streaks, for my play style, the Assault Package is where it’s at. All of you MW2 players know that feeling when you call in your PAVE Low – in MW3, it’s all about packaging a chain that’s designed for more direct damage. The teams at IW/SHG have also created a Strike Package that rewards support-oriented players called the Support Package - while these do not chain, they do not reset upon death, enabling players to stay more focused on helping their team rather than being driven purely by the desire for a high kill rate. (...)
